Our Philosophy
A small child needs to know that someone cares, that what he says and does is important. A child's self-worth depends largely on the experience of love, and he learns to love others by being loved. Our Kindergarten shares the love of Jesus Christ with all the children who attend, and helps them know the meaning of the greatest love of all - God's love.

School Schedule
Students attend either the morning session (9 a.m. - 12 noon) or the afternoon session (1 - 4 p.m.), Monday through Friday. The school year is 10 months long, from September through June. We refer to the English Schools Foundation for the school terms and holidays, and this schedule will be posted at the beginning of each year.

Classes
There are six classes in the morning and three in the afternoon according to age.

Where We Are
Small World Christian Kindergarten is housed in part of a historic Victorian brick complex that used to be a British military hospital, now renovated and adapted for school use. The building, located at 10 Borrett Road in the Mid-Levels district of Hong Kong Island, is surrounded by large, shady old trees and ample playground space.

Our Programme
As a Christian kindergarten, we base our instruction on the Bible and its principles of everyday life and learning. Children develop through these principles, learning through listening, experiencing and participating.
Learning experiences are grouped under seven categories:

Practical Life/Sensorial Activities
Problem Solving and Thinking Skills
Language
Numbers
Creation and Science
Bible
Physical Education
Music and Dance
Art and Creativity

Instruction is in English.

Children's Activities
Everyday at Small World Christian Kindergarten we provide activities that allow a child to move at his own pace in discovery and exploration. In these activities, we:

  • Emphasise motivation
  • Place children in direct contact with learning materials, (for reading, mathematics, etc.), rather than forcing information through lecturing and rote memorisation
  • Provide a Christian staff that shows love and affection, supporting each child's efforts
  • Allow children to study various subjects individually or in small groups in different parts of the building
  • Provide materials that are mostly self-correcting
  • Organize the day into flexible blocks of time
  • Encourage parents to visit
  • Expect close support from parents

Admission and Orientation
A child must be at least 3 years old to enter the kindergarten. Applications are accepted for the school's wait list only when your child is 2 years old or above. The application fee is HK$300, which is non-refundable. We arrange an informal interview with you and your child once space becomes available, and then notify you of acceptance by mail.
Our main intakes are in September and April each year. Children whose birthdays are between October and January will be placed on the April wait list, even if they be eligible to start in January. The January intake is very small, depending on the number of places available at that time. Places in the afternoon session are generally more often available than those in the morning.
We have orientation times for all students in September, and for the newcomers in the January and April terms. We will inform you of the dates when the time arrives.

School Fees
Tuition and snack fees are HK$3,890 per month for the 10-month school year. Uniforms are HK$120 each, and an art folder is HK$25. These fees are subject to review each year.
We do not run our own buses, but utilise the services of private bus companies. Parents make applications and payments directly to the bus company.
